70.3 Bahrain - Middle East Championships
Sometimes fate can be a bitch. I was devastated when I realised I was out of the race. 65km into the bike, sitting in 2nd/3rd place and traveling at 55kmh I hit something significant in the middle of our race lane (apparently a pipe piece? had fallen off a truck). With the initial adrenalin I was desperate to make up my loses, but quickly discovered my bike was out of action. Eventually the mechanic came before the pick up van, so I figured I may as well log a solid training day and finish the race amongst an awesome atmosphere. Some decent bruising and road rash, and a damaged ego. Not my plan of attack to start the season after my racing drought, but “someday everything will make perfect sense, so for now laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.” Lots to come in 2019!
And thank you all for the warm messages x

Amelia's update this month is a video of her race week build up to Bahrain 70.3 where she left some skin behind on the roads and tore her brand new tri suit but as always sees the positives aspects of her first race back from Injury.
The video's got it all, chickens, arabic royalty, chaffing and partial nudity (rated G). Check it out!
